Caleb Plant Health Update: David Benavidez gives respect to 'Sweet Hands'
The hatchet appears to have been buried between David Benavidez and Caleb Plant.
While the two super-middleweight contenders were fighting to get a shot at Canelo Alvarez, it was more than that. The rivalry between Benavidez and Plant became very heated in the build of their fight.
That bad blood was evident on fight night, as the two refused to touch gloves before the bout. The pair then put on 12 rounds of violence, with the Mexican star claiming the win by unanimous decision.
With the fight being history, it seems that the two have decided to put a stop to their fued. At the post-fight press conference, David Benavidez paid respect to Caleb Plant and stated that he was a warrior like himself.
“I just told him, you know, man to man, I’m sorry for all the trash talk that we [did]. We went at each other. We talked a lotta s*** to each other. A lot of it, I’m not gonna say it wasn’t necessary, because it was necessary, because this fight was huge. You know, it was a huge fight and sometimes that’s what you need to bring the best out of two men. And we’re both warriors. He’s a warrior. You know, he definitely showed it."
