Former teammate of Merab Dvalishvili, Magdi Amachov, came under fire after being spotted training with Umar Nurmagomedov in Khabib Nurmagomedov's training camp for UFC 311. The reigning UFC welterweight kingpin, Belal Muhammad recently weighed in and shared his thoughts on the entire situation.
Dvalishvili reportedly helped Amachov during his early days and even let him stay at his home in the U.S. Recently, Amachov was seen in Khabib’s training camp for UFC 311, assisting the No. 2-ranked bantamweight contender in preparation for his next fight against Dvalishvili. The training snaps created a buzz on the internet, with several MMA fans accusing the amateur fighter of backstabbing Dvalishvili.
Speaking with Jason Anik on the Anik & Florian podcast, Muhammad discussed how Amachov has been targeted by fans for his move. 'Remember the Name' asserted that Amachov is not really training with Umar and has not revealed any secrets about ‘The Machine’. Despite this, he is still facing backlash. Expressing sympathy for him, Muhammad said:
“I feel bad for the younger kid that everybody's talking about—the Magdi, the one that was hanging out with Merab, and now he's in the camp with these guys, with Umar and them. He's not really even training with Umar like that, so I feel bad for him because people are calling him a traitor and saying he's giving out secrets and things like that. But you know how Merab is going to fight—he's not going to do anything different.”

Merab Dvalishvili opens up about Magdi Amachov’s training with Umar Nurmagomedov
In his recent appearance on The Schmo, Merab Dvalishvili spoke about Magdi Amachov. The reigning bantamweight champion asserted that he still loves Amachov and is not angry with his move to train with Umar Nurmagomedov and his team. He emphasized Amachov's shared culture with Dagestani fighters and said:
"I love him and I did help him but I [didn't help him] because I own him you know? He's a big man and he can do whatever he wants. He's from Dagestan and I know he loves Islam Makhachev, I know he loves Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and Umar. They call each other Muslim brothers and I'm not surprised of course. That's his country, that's his friends. I mean, I will not do that but I will also not judge him. I love him and I understand this... I'm not mad."
