No. 2-ranked UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad is bound for his first world title shot after nearly a decade in the company at UFC 304 this weekend. On a 10-fight unbeaten streak, Muhammad will rematch UFC welterweight king Leon 'Rocky' Edwards on enemy territory in Manchester, England.
Ahead of his bout with 'Rocky', Muhammad spoke with Damon Martin of MMA Fighting about where he ranks in the UFC welterweight all-time greats, saying:
"My goal isn't just to be the champion. My goal is to be the best welterweight to ever do it. For me to go out there and beat Leon [Edwards], who beat [former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru] Usman twice - who everybody thought was the best welterweight to ever do it, right - then I'm up there. I'm ahead of him. And I'm right underneath GSP [Georges St-Pierre]."

Belal Muhammad says training with Khabib Nurmagomedov puts him on "another level"
Since 2022, Belal Muhammad has been training with former UFC lightweight world champion Khabib 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov and his team of wrestlers from Dagestan. This collaboration gave 'Remember the Name' his first TKO win in the UFC since 2016, a second-round finish of Sean Brady at UFC 280.
Speaking to Shakiel Majouri of CBS Sports, Muhammad talked about what it's like to train with and learn from the legendary 'Eagle' of Dagestan:
"[Training with Nurmagomedov] benefits me everywhere. Physically, mentally and spiritually it just puts me on another level. Training with him and getting advice from him is worth 20, 30, 40 or 50 days with anybody else."
