Nico Carrillo has begun preparing for the biggest match of his career. The Scottish knockout monster is set to challenge Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at the stacked ONE 170 card on Jan. 24 at Impact Arena.
Nearly two months before his first world title fight in ONE Championship, Carrillo revealed on Instagram that he left his native Scotland and began his training camp in Thailand.
Carrillo set up his camp at Sasiprapa Gym to acclimate to Bangkok's tropical climate.
He posted a snippet of his padwork with trusted coach JP Gallacher in a display of the terrifying power he plans to use against Superlek in January.

'King of the North' is one of the most intimidating strikers on the planet, and the 5-foot-10 knockout machine hasn't had any problems making the division's 145-pound limit despite his stature.
Although Carrillo started his ONE Championship tenure in the 155-pound featherweight class, his move to bantamweight saw him practically dominate the competition with three straight knockouts.
The 26-year-old is also 4-0 in ONE Championship with a 100 percent knockout rate against Furkan Karabag, Muangthai PK Saenchai, former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama, and Saemapetch Fairtex.
Superlek, however, is in a class of his own.
The Thai megastar is the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing and bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, with a strong argument as the planet's best pound-for-pound striker.
'The Kicking Machine' is also on an 11-fight winning streak, with one of those wins coming at the expense of Rodtang Jitmuangnon in September 2023.
Nico Carrillo plans to send Superlek to the nether realm in world title showdown
Nico Carrillo doesn't just have his eyes set on the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, he's also determined to be the first person to send Superlek Kiatmoo9 staring at the floodlights.
In an interview on the Leather'd Podcast, Carrillo said he wants to test Superlek's chin when they square off in Bangkok in ONE Championship's first numbered event of 2025:
"But then with Superlek, he's never been stopped in like 300-plus fights. He's never been knocked out. He has got the number one ranking for pound-for-pound striker on the planet right now."
