While it has been nearly six years since Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov clashed at UFC 229, the bad blood between the two remains. 'The Notorious' recently went off on former United States President Donald Trump for listing 'The Eagle' as his favorite UFC fighter.
The former double champ took to X on Monday to let off a series of tweets in response to the comments, stating:
"Campaign ending decision. A smelly fat mountain monkey from the inbred mountains of Dagestan is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? Wow. Abysmal."
McGregor followed that up by taking back his previous praise of Trump, adding:

"I was actually wrong. Couple hundred million he is worth. Not multi B. I would have thought USA ONLY would be the mentality here and what I would want to see out of my president, personally. To pick a retired inbred fighter from Dagestan Russia who has 3 main events only to his name is astounding. Over all the American fighters that have backed him. It’s a shocking decision. He was caught on the spot. That won’t go unnoticed on the roster. This presidential race is very tight right now. More so now."
McGregor then shared a photo of Nurmagomedov in a tub with five of his teammates, claiming:
"trumps favorite fighter. here he is in a tiny tub with his fellow inbred pals in dagestan. Can you spot him? Where’s Khabib? Find Khabib. #TheyAreLookingForHim #THEYWILLFINDHIM"

McGregor suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Nurmagomedov when they clashed back in 2018. While he has angled for a rematch, it is unlikely to transpire as 'The Eagle' retired from mixed martial arts following the death of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, in 2020. 'The Notorious' has not missed an opportunity to target his former opponent since their clash.
Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler suggest the fight may be off following the call-out of Donald Trump
Conor McGregor appeared set to return to the octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, however, he was forced to withdraw due to a broken pinky toe. While both fighters had claimed the bout would take place at a later date, they recently exchanged words on X, suggesting that their clash may be off.
After 'The Notorious' criticized Donald Trump, 'Iron' was quick to come to his defense. Following a back-and-forth between the two, the latter claimed that the bout was off, stating:
"Nevermind guys…I think it’s time I finally admit the fight is off. He’s still in stage 2 of the 7 of grief pertaining to his career being over. Figured he’d be closer to 5 by now. Godspeed @TheNotoriousMMA"
McGregor responded by suggesting that a clash with Max Holloway could be next:
"? lol ok lil bro. Swapped out handy. @BlessedMMA what you at December? The real bmf, you know."

It is unclear if Holloway would be open to such a quick turnaround. The 'BMF' champion is set to challenge Ilia Topuria for the featherweight title in the main event of UFC 308 in October.
