Chael Sonnen has faced some of the most dangerous mixed martial artists of all time. After listening to Joe Rogan label Demetrious Johnson as the scariest fighter in UFC history, the former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title contender shared that his choice would be two-time heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez.
Speaking on his podcast, You're Welcome With Chael Sonnen, the mixed martial arts analyst stated:
"Scariest fighter in MMA history - I had, with a pretty sizable gap, Cain Velasquez. He had the whole bit. He lad the look. He had the eyes. He had the jawline. He had the stoicness. He had the rumors and reputation. He had the work ethic."
Sonnen continued:

"He had the record. He had the knockouts. He had the collegiate resume, but there was something scary about a big guy that had the level of conditioning. We don’t see that very often. Not that level, not where they can be on you that hard, non-stop."
Sonnen went on to share stories about Velasquez's work ethic that he believes made the former fighter even scarier. The two-time heavyweight champion retired from mixed martial arts in 2019 with a professional record of 14-3, with 12 of his victories coming via knockout.

Chael Sonnen discusses Conor McGregor's pending return to the octagon
Conor McGregor has not fought in 18 months since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021. However, he is targeting a return to the octagon in 2023.
Mixed martial arts analyst Chael Sonnen took to his podcast Beyond The Fight to discuss the return of the former double champ:
"Does it matter who Conor's opponent is? There's only one guy in the sport who it did not matter who his opponent was, he was going to draw, he was going to do business. One guy. Conor McGregor. Is it still? Yeah. Yup. It still is. 'Red panty night' is still very real."
Sonnen added that while the fight will be a massive draw, McGregor's opponent will not be determined until he makes his goal clear. He speculated that the former double champ might only have three fights left before he is forced to retire. McGregor has headlined the six best-selling pay-per-view events in UFC history.
