The probability of the much-rumored Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul boxing match lowers by the day. Three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen took to X to share his thoughts on a recent statement issued by 'Maverick,' who is now hinting at the bout with McGregor being a thing of the past.
Paul's statement revolved around him committing all of his time and effort into professional wrestling, deliberately discarding any other occupations. Naturally, this would include boxing, putting his reported fight with McGregor at risk, if it was ever on the table.
"I've been so good at this. Now, I'm dedicated my life to this. No more side hustle, no more bullsh*t. 100% WWE."
Given a recent report that the rumored $250,000,000 purse for each fighter was false, it wouldn't be outside of the realm of possibility for Paul to be negotiating in the public eye. Nevertheless, his statement reinforces his commitment to his career with the WWE, which Sonnen doesn't fully buy into.

"Hence the issue. If they box but tell the world it's "rassl'n" it won't make a bit of difference."
Despite Sonnen's apparent optimism, there have been few details about the fight. Even the billionaire Ambani family has released no official statements regarding the bout. McGregor, meanwhile, has not been seen in action in any capacity since mid-2021.
Many have awaited his return, which seemed primed for UFC 303 last year. Unfortunately, the Irishman fractured his toe, causing him to withdraw from the bout, sparking a controversial reaction in the MMA world.
Chael Sonnen believes the Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul fight can take place
The greatest barrier to Conor McGregor facing Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match is the UFC, the promotion which has been trying to coax him back into the octagon for years now. However, Chael Sonnen is of the belief that the Irishman's UFC contract has no bearing on his plans to box Paul.
"Having an exclusive contract with someone doesn't mean you own that person like a slave. It means that you have some very exclusive obligations to that person as well. So if you were to come out publicly and say you were not going to use them, you no longer have a contract."

Regardless, no official statement has been issued by the UFC on McGregor's plans, and he is still expected to make his octagon return at some point in 2025.
