Chael Sonnen weighs in on Khabib Nurmagomedov's removal from Frontier Airlines flight: "It's a tough one"

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen reacted to Khabib Nurmagomedov being removed from a Frontier Airlines flight. The former UFC lightweight champion was on a flight from Las Vegas to California for UFC 311 to corner Islam Makhachev.

But he got into an argument with a flight attendant. The attendant questioned 'The Eagle's' ability to help the other passengers, which is a requirement for the passenger sitting in the exit row.

Nurmagomedov was asked to switch to a different seat, but he refused as he believed he was fluent enough in English and could handle a crisis if it arose. Due to this, the 36-year-old was escorted off the plane. Reacting to the controversy, Chael Sonnen said:

"So many people have blamed the airline but defended Khabib because Khabib was being polite. It's a tough one, they call it the emergency row. That person must verbally and physically acknowledge with a 'yes.' I've been in the emergency row enough times to hear this entire speech ... As annoying as it is, a hero like Khabib being removed without him being aggressive doesn't matter, because it is a consistent rule."

Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Umar Nurmagomedov's fight vs. Merab Dvalishvili will be "very high-level"

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov believes the bantamweight title clash between his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov and Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311 will be a very high-level fight.

'The Eagle' believes the bantamweight champion is a far better freestyle wrestler and exerts more pressure than his cousin. But the 36-year-old also believes when it comes to mixed martial arts and mixing up things, 'The Young Eagle' is among the best in the world.

In a post on X by @ChampRDS, the former champion said:

"He [Dvalishvili] has got championship heart... Merab is the better freestyle wrestler, and Merab is better than him on pressure. But when we see how [Umar] mixes it up, like mixed martial arts, he’s one of the best right now in the world... It’s gonna be a very high-level fight."
