Charles Oliveira exclaims after "ratioing" fake Ariel Helwani account that reported a fight between 'Do Bronx' and Conor McGregor

A false tweet announcing Conor Mcgregor's return to the octagon against Charles Oliveira was posted by somebody impersonating MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. Many were misled due to the account having the 'Blue Tick' verification, now made easily available for $8 per-month under Elon Musk's new management.

The now-suspended account falsely claimed that Conor McGregor will return to the octagon against Charles Oliveira at UFC 290 next June, in the 170 pound weight-class.

Oliveira, who has previously stated his desire to fight McGregor, humorously responded to the fraudulent tweet. He appeared surprised but eager to accept the fight.

When fans read Oliveira's retweet-reply to the fake account, it understandably caused them to react in a frenzied manner. With an overwhelming number of Twitter users responding to the Brazilian’s tweet by liking it, it caused 'Do Bronx' to 'ratio' the fake account.

Oliveira seemed delighted that his retweet got more likes and interactions than Helwani's, even if this Ariel Helwani was a fake. He even jokingly boasted about it in another tweet.

Conor McGregor has been absent from the octagon since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. While it seems highly unlikely that 'The Notorious' will ever make a competitive return to the lightweight division, some fighters like Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira have called him out hoping for a big payday. However, there has been no official confirmation or news regarding Conor McGregor's return as of yet.

Michael Chandler believes Conor McGregor will return to the UFC: "It makes a ton of sense"

Michael Chandler first called out Conor Mcgregor after the former's spectacular knockout win against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. In a spine-tingling post-fight octagon interview, 'Iron' laid claim to being the one to welcome McGregor back at his "biggest, baddest and best."

When asked about Mcgregor's potential return to the octagon during the recent UFC 281 pre-fight presser, Chandler reiterated:

"I do. I believe his first fight back will be me. Makes a ton of sense. I believe that I've made myself not just one of the most exciting guys in the UFC but probably the most exciting guy in the lightweight division."

'Iron' further stated:

"I love the idea of fighting him at his biggest, at his baddest, at his most dangerous at 170lb... I think we would do staggering pay-per-view numbers and I think he knows that I am the type of opponent that he wants to come back and fight."

Michael Chandler is currently all set to face Dustin Poirier in a lightweight bout that could potentially grant the winner a claim to the lightweight title. They face each other at UFC 281 this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
