Charles Oliveira recently expressed interest in fighting Max Holloway in light of uncertain timeline for Islam Makhachev's next title defense. The Brazilian noted that he'd like to remain active rather than waiting an extended period for a title shot.
After Makhachev's successful title defense against Renato Moicano at UFC 311 last Saturday, Dana White said that Arman Tsarukyan, who withdrew due to a back injury, wouldn't receive a title shot when he returned.
Oliveira could be considered the next title challenger, but it's unclear whether the Dagestani will compete until the promotion's annual pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi later in the year.
Championship Rounds posted a quote via UFC Brazil, in which the former lightweight champion named 'Blessed' as an ideal opponent should Makhachev prefer returning in October.

Oliveira mentioned that his first encounter against Holloway ended due to unforeseen circumstances and would be interested in challenging him for his 'BMF' title:
"We'll have to see when [Makhachev] will want to come back. If he only wants to fight in October, I definitely want to fight before that, so why not challenge Max Holloway for the 'BMF' belt? We met before, but I suffered an injury right in the beginning, so there wasn't an actual fight. I think we deserve to make this fight happen."

When did Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway's fight take place?
Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway are no strangers to each other as they have already fought in the octagon once before. Their bout took place in 2015 and served as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 74 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
It was a featherweight bout that had implications on the rankings as both were vying to get their names in the title picture. Unfortunately for Oliveira, he suffered an esophagus injury after shooting for a takedown and the ensuing scramble with Holloway. As a result, 'Blessed' was awarded a first-round TKO win.
