Charles Oliveira failed to defend his spot as the top contender in the lightweight division after suffering a split-decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan on the main card of UFC 300. The No.2-ranked lightweight remains without an opponent for his impending return to the octagon.
Speaking to Brazilian publication Ag. Fight, 'Do Bronx' addressed a recent callout from Colby Covington, stating:
"Man, in reality it's like I said, it's sitting down and looking at legacy, history, values. You have to sit down. When I woke up in the morning, thousands of people were sending me messages, I sent it to Diego [Lima] and Diego said it too, I see what you think."
He continued:

"I said, Diego, just sit down, talk, think, see what's good, see what the UFC thinks about it. It's not just what Charles thinks, it's about what the UFC thinks about it. [Colby] is a talkative guy, he's a guy who talks a lot, so let's see. Why not?"

What did Colby Covington say about facing Charles Oliveira?
While Colby Covington appeared in line to face Ian Garry in his return to the octagon, the bout no longer looks likely to materialize. 'Chaos' recently called out Charles Oliveira, claiming that he only wants legacy fights going forward.
Speaking to Kacper Rosolowski and Denis Shkuratov of Submission Radio, the No.4-ranked welterweight stated:
"I want legacy fights, I think a guy like Charles Oliveira makes sense. He was out there saying the other day that he wants to come up to welterweight so I'm the king of f**king Brazil. Everybody knows I run that f**king country. All the women love me, all the men in Brazil want to be like me. Charles Oliveira you want this fight, you want to really come up to welterweight, you want big fights. Let's see if you're about it or if you're just talk or if you want to come up here and walk the walk. Let's see."
