Martial arts has a way of bringing people together; just ask Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
The two had a brief conversation in the comments section of one of Zuckerberg’s recent Instagram posts, and by the looks of it, the pair are arranging a potential meet-up sometime this year.
Zuckerberg, a recent but avid mixed martial arts fan, posted a video of himself and Australian MMA star Alexander Volkanovski “sparring” in the Metaverse. This is where Sityodtong, a lifelong martial artist, praised the Facebook head honcho’s form:
“Looking sharp, Mark! 🔥🔥🔥”

That short comment eventually led to Zuckerberg inviting Sityodtong to the Meta headquarters in Menlo Park, California:
"@yodchatri Thanks! Would love to have you visit Meta HQ sometime"
Chatri Sityodtong gladly accepted the invite:
“@zuck Definitely, Mark! I love everything meta is doing! Let’s train together too when I am there!”
According to a ONE Championship official, talks are indeed ongoing between Zuckerberg and Sityodtong regarding a possible get-together.
Though there are no dates just yet, the meeting could happen in a few months with ONE Championship set to hold its first on-site event in the United States on May 5 at the 1STBANK Center in Colorado.
Sityodtong is slated for a media tour in the U.S. ahead of the landmark show and it could be possible that one of his stops is the Meta HQ.
ONE Fight Night 10 will be the promotion’s highly anticipated U.S. debut and will feature ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson defending his belt against rival Adriano Moraes in the main event.
Mark Zuckerberg hails fellow “nerd” Mikey Musumeci
Mark Zuckerberg is known as one of the biggest 'nerds' on the planet, but there is another bespectacled individual who carries the label and ONE Championship gold with pride.
Submission grappling ace Mikey Musumeci is one of the best martial artists on the planet, an absolute killer on the mats. But one look at him, and you’d never know. Retired MMA star-turned-analyst Chael Sonnen even called him “The King of the Nerds."
Musumeci solidified his place atop the submission grappling world when he became the inaugural ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion at ONE on Prime Video 2.
‘Darth Rigatoni’ scored a dominant unanimous decision win over Cleber Sousa in Singapore and Mark Zuckerberg was quick to congratulate Musumeci on Instagram.
Zuckerberg wrote in the comments section of Musumeci’s post:
“Congrats! 👏"
Musumeci replied:
“@zuck I have to try to hold it down for us nerds 🤣❤️😊”
