ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong raved about the speed and power of ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 following Friday night's ONE Fight Night 8 event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In the main event of the evening, ‘The Kicking Machine’ scored a third-round knockout against Danial Williams to retain his title. Following another stellar ONE Championship event, the promotion’s CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong spoke about Superlek’s incredible skill set in an interview with the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
“It’s very interesting. Liam Harrison, who is obviously one of the greatest world champions and one of the greatest strikers who ever lived, he says that Superlek has the fastest and most powerful kicks he’s ever faced. And that’s just in a sparring session, so you could just imagine the speed and the power differential.”
For his efforts in the ONE Fight Night 8 headliner, the ONE CEO awarded ‘The Kicking Machine’ a well-deserved $50,000 bonus. Asked what he planned to do with the money in a post-fight interview, Superlek revealed that he didn’t have many plans for his newfound wealth aside from completing renovations on his mother’s home:

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong wants to put his top stars against the UFC’s biggest names
ONE Championship has grown to be one of the biggest combat sports entities in the world, dominating the east while the UFC has maintained a stranglehold on the west. However, that’s about to change as ONE is ready to make its long-awaited debut in the United States on May 5 with ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.
Ready to take a piece of the pie that their North American rival has been hoarding for three decades, ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong once again called for Dana White to put his money where his mouth is, suggesting a cross-promotional event between the two organizations to determine who is truly the best in the world of combat sports:
“The world has become a global duopoly. If you look at the popularity of UFC in the west and you look at the popularity of ONE in the east, it's basically the same. But I will tell you, our fighters are better, and I'll tell you that I'd love to see one day a ONE versus UFC event, a mega-event to see who truly is the best in the world.”
