Chatri Sityodtong’s message to Takeru Segawa post-ONE signing

ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong couldn’t be more pumped for the newest addition to his organization’s roster. The world’s largest martial arts organization announced a couple of weeks ago that it had signed Japanese kickboxing sensation Takeru Segawa.

Immediately, talks of several potential blockbuster matchups were ignited. ONE Championship has built a reputation over the years of having the world’s best strikers among its ranks. With the addition of Takeru, there is no doubt ONE has signed the best Japan has to offer.

At a recent press conference in Tokyo announcing the Takeru signing, Sityodtong had a simple message for the Japanese superstar.

He said:

“We have many good fighters like Haggerty, Superlek, Rodtang. Do your best, ok? Let’s make new history together that something Japanese fans have never seen before.”

Indeed, ONE Championship has some incredible talents on its elite roster of world champions, many of whom compete in and around Takeru’s weight division.

Potential blockbuster matchups include a showdown with newly crowned ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty and ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.

But the fight most fans are excited about is a potential war between Takeru and ONE Championship’s reigning flyweight Muay Thai king ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Rodtang has emerged as one of the biggest names in Muay Thai over the past few years, gaining international notoriety with his performance against ONE flyweight world champion and mixed martial arts legend Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, as well as the legendary toughness he has shown in his fights.

Many fans wonder how a fight between Takeru vs. Rodtang would go, but they probably won’t have to wait long to find out. That fight is likely imminent as ONE Championship tries to put it together.
