ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong promises fight fans that the promotion's return to Japan next year, ONE 172, will be packed to the brim with the best of the best on the promotional roster.
Just yesterday, the world's largest martial arts organization confirmed its return to the "Land of the Rising Sun" in 2025. Alongside the announcement of the Saitama Super Arena bill on March 23, two colossal bouts were revealed.
The first is Takeru Segawa and Rodtang Jitmuangnon's hotly anticipated showdown. The pair will headline the card, and combat sports enthusiasts will be treated to a five-round flyweight kickboxing matchup between two of the finest strikers of this generation.

In addition, top-ranked Adriano Moraes and second-ranked Yuya Wakamatsu cross paths for the second time for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title.
Speaking at the press conference yesterday, Sityodtong promised fans that ONE 172 will be the promotion's most spectacular card yet in Japan:
"Of course, the fight card will feature the best of the best matches, with the highest caliber athletes coming together. This is an opportunity for Japanese fighters to bring glory and hope to martial arts on the world's biggest stage, just as PRIDE did 30 years ago."

At the same presser, the ONE head honcho also told members of the media that Wakamatsu has eyes on claiming the vacant flyweight MMA world title with a knockout of Moraes.
The lifelong martial artist went on to add:
"Yuya just told me backstage he's gonna knock out Adriano. Adriano is the only man in history who knocked out Demetrious Johnson, the greatest of all-time flyweight."
The No. 2-ranked Wakamatsu hopes to reverse his fortunes after tapping to a guillotine choke from the then-kingpin in their clash for gold at ONE X inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium in March 2022.
