Cheavon Clarke vs. Efetobor Apochi: Live round-by-round updates

Cheavon Clarke vs. Efetobor Apochi at cruiserweight will go down later tonight on the undercard of the super-middleweight clash between Diego Pacheco vs. Maciej Sulecki in Carson, California.

Clarke (9-0) is currently No.4 on the WBA's cruiserweight rankings. Aptly nicknamed 'C4', the Jamaican-born Englishman is a true powerhouse and holds seven knockouts (77 percent finish rate) to his name.

The 33-year-old was last seen in an eighth-round KO win against Ellis Zorro in their British Boxing Board of Control cruiserweight title fight.

Unlike his opponent, Apochi (12-2) lacks a spotless record. The Nigerian has produced mixed results in recent years and has been far less active compared to Clarke. 'Nigerian Pit Bull' was last seen in a fifth-round TKO win over Lucas Pontes Da Silva in February.

According to Oddschecker, Clarke is a -1000 favorite over Apochi (+700 underdog) for the matchup.

Round 1

Apochi is flinging his long jabs to start the fight. 'C4' is committing to body shots in an effort to lower his opponent's guard. An uppercut from the inside lands for Clarke.

A lead right hook lands for Apochi, and he follows it up with a straight punch which momentarily dazes Clarke. Apochi seems to be the more accurate fighter in the opening round.

Clarke is circling away from his opponent's right hand. but Apochi is constantly pressuring his 'C4' with stiff jabs, forcing him to fight on the back foot. A body shot lands for Apochi.

'Nigerian Pit Bull' is finding a lot of success with his jabs. Clarke is sinking in body shots even though he is forced to fight on the back foot.

Clarke seems to have upped the pace this round. He lands a multi-punch combo, going both upstairs and downstairs. A crushing uppercut from the inside lands for 'C4'.

Clarke is making it a dog fight, really closing distance forcing his opponent to fight on the inside. A few powerful body shots land for Clarke. Apochi returns fire with a powerful one-two.

'C4' is now much more elusive on the feet constantly changing angles. Apochi lands a multi-punch punch combo. Clarke returns fire with a left straight.

Clarke is now utilizing his jabs more to out-box his opponent. He connects with a crushing uppercut on the inside. Apochi is now finding it hard to land clean on his opponent. However, he sinks in a flurry at the end of the round.

Clarke seems to have realized his opponents largely fight flat-footed. 'C4' is now sticking and moving to effortlessly outbox his opponent. Clarke is now the more accurate fighter.

'C4's' bodywork seems to affecting his opponent. Both men connect on each other to close out the round.

Round 6

Apochi is trying to walk his opponent down however he is missing most of his punches. Meanwhile, Clarke is stinging his opponent with jabs and left hands as his opponent tries to close distance.

Body shots followed by an uppercut on the inside lands for Apochi. A crushing one-two combo lands for Apochi and Clarke returns fire with an uppercut which dazes Apochi momentarily. A very close round.

Clarke seems content outboxing his opponent, while Apochi seems to be banking on power punches hoping for a knockout. Clarke connects with a straight left hand and Apochi returns fire with a right hand of his own.

Apochi connects with another right hand which stuns Clarke. Apochi hits his opponent with a multi-punch flurry. A right hook by Apochi connects clean on his opponent. A good round for Apochi.

Apochi seems intent on a knockout. He is connecting with multiple body shots on his opponent. A big right hand lands for 'C4'. Apochi is dazed. Clarke smells a knockout. He lands a crushing uppercut. Apochi is still on his feet.

Clarke seems to be a bit winded after the high-activity offensive onslaught. This is the most dominant round of the fight for Clarke so far.

Apochi seems to have recovered from the beating he suffered in the last round. He is back on the front foot, trying to walk down his opponent. Apochi is connecting with jabs and one-to-two combos.
