“Everything lined up well to make this super-fight happen” - Christian Lee is grateful for chance at double-champ status

'The Warrior' Christian Lee has cleared out the best fighters in the lightweight division and is now looking for new challenges. At ONE on Prime Video 4, the lightweight king will get a chance to earn a second world title as he faces ONE welterweight world champion 'Brazen' Kiamrian Abbasov.

The Singaporean-American wanted this bout, but with contract negotiations, injuries, or scheduling, the best plans in combat sports sometimes fail to happen. However, this world champion versus world champion showdown came together perfectly.

In an interview with ONE Championship, 'The Warrior' said:

"I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be fighting for the welterweight title. I’m sure there are other organizations who would want the champion to go and get a few fights in the welterweight division before going for a title. But I also feel like everything lined up well to make this super-fight happen."

After getting revenge and recapturing his lightweight throne against Ok Rae Yoon, the 24-year-old fighter thought about taking some time away from the sport. However, when this opportunity came, adding a second world title to his name sounded much nicer. Christian Lee continued:

“Initially, after claiming my title back, it sounded really nice to take some time off. But an opportunity like this is really just too big of a moment to let it just pass me by. And fighting for a second world title and a second weight division has always been a dream of mine since I started this sport.”

ONE on Prime Video 4 will be headlined by a war between two reigning world champions. Christian Lee will be looking to add the welterweight crown to his mantle when he faces the dangerous Kiamrian Abbasov.

'The Warrior' knows that the November 18 bout will be entertaining:

“I think they chose a good fight to headline this card. Because Abbasov is an extremely talented fighter, I know that when he goes out there, he’s always looking to finish his fights. And when I go there, I’m looking to finish my fights. So regardless of the outcome, I know it’s going to be an exciting fight for the fans.”
