Two-division champion Christian Lee delivered one of the best performances of his career at ONE on Prime Video 4. He's now revealed a setback that occurred in camp.

The 24-year-old superstar dealt with an illness in the lead-up to his welterweight title fight against Kiamrian Abbasov. Lee recently spoke with the promotion about the details of his illness, saying:

"In my case, leading up to this fight, I got a great camp. I trained extremely hard for this fight, but two weeks before the fight I had a bad sickness that affected my lungs, and I was still training through it. So when it came down to the fight, that’s one of the reasons I feel like I could’ve done much better if, you know, that hadn’t happened."

Christian Lee added:

"Now that the fight’s over, I’ll talk about it. But before the fight, I didn’t wanna leave any room. I didn’t wanna make any excuses before the fight, but that definitely affected my cardio going into the later rounds and made me dig deep. It was right before I flew out and it affected me so much."

'The Warrior' concluded:

"I was really down for the last two weeks of my training camp, but, you know, I was still able to push through, and I think I got the result that I did. But that was definitely a bit of a struggle to overcome."

Christian Lee details what it's like fighting for five rounds

The two-division champion has a plethora of experience competing in five-round fights. Going the distance in title fights against Martin Nguyen, Saygid Arslanaliev, and Ok Rae Yoon granted him three opportunities to compete for 25 minutes.

Lee detailed how it feels to fight five rounds in an interview with ONE Championship, saying:

"Being in the championship rounds is something different. I feel like you have to be in there and experience those championship rounds to know what it’s like. Because you know once you’ve gone four, five rounds and you take a fight that’s three rounds, it feels short, it feels fast."

Incredibly, Christian lee hasn't taken part in a non-title fight since January 2019 when he finished Edward Kelly. In fact, he has competed in seven straight championship bouts, winning six of them.

Make sure to check back for an announcement regarding Christian Lee's next fight, as it will be a defense of one of his two world titles.
