'The Warrior' Christian Lee believes that now is the perfect time for him to claim a second world title. At ONE on Prime Video 4, the lightweight king will go up a weight division to fight for the welterweight crown.

After taking back the ONE lightweight world title from OK Rae Yoon in August, Lee is now setting his sights on claiming the welterweight throne from reigning world champion 'Brazen' Kiamrian Abbasov on November 18.

The 24-year-old athlete is happy with the timing of this matchup. While speaking in an interview with The MMA Superfan, he explained:

"I already claimed the lightweight title, now I feel like it’s a good time, having defended my belt in the lightweight division quite a few times. With the welterweight division kind of like being on hold for the last few years, we’ve only seen one title defense from Abbasov in the last two years."

Prior to losing the lightweight crown to Ok Rae Yoon in a controversial manner last year, Lee had defended his throne quite a few times against some of the top fighters in the division.

With both the lightweight and welterweight divisions currently not having a clear top contender, Christian Lee believes it is a good time for him to challenge for the welterweight world title. Hosting a world championship super fight gives these two weight classes time to develop their contenders. 'The Warrior' said:

"I feel like it’s kind of a good time where the lightweight division is a little bit on hold and the welterweight division as well. So I think the time lined up to make this fight happen."

Christian Lee respects Kiamrian Abbasov

The ONE welterweight world champion Kiamrian Abbasov has the respect of the Singaporean-American lightweight king. Christian Lee explained in an interview how he views his Kyrgyzstani opponent. He explained:

“I think Abbasov’s greatest strength is the fact that he’s a well-rounded martial artist. He’s a very durable fighter. He’s got good cardio. I feel that he’s able to mix up his striking and his wrestling quite well, which is why he is the champion.”

The Kyrgyzstan-born athlete Abbasov captured the welterweight throne in 2019. On his record, he has defeated notable fighters such as Yushin Okami, James Nakashima, Zebaztian Kadestam, and Agilan Thani. On November 18, he will be looking to add Christian Lee to this record.

ONE on Prime Video 4 will be headlined by two world champions facing off in the ONE circle. 'The Warrior' will be looking to make history by adding a second crown to his name.
