#1. Super middleweight: Christian Mbilli vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko
The Christian Mbilli vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko bout is guaranteed action. Both boxers fight with a berserker's intent, with Mbilli possessed by a dogged determination to enter the pocket, where he does his best work.
He typically hides behind a high guard, operating from a low stance reminiscent of the great Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving his head as he works his way inside. It often leads to him absorbing a tremendous amount of punches, but the Frenchman is a physical tank and hasn't been stopped yet.
Instead, throughout his undefeated run, he has knocked out 23 of the 27 opponents he has beaten. He walks his foe down, looking to sandwich them between him and the ropes or corner, before unloading with vicious combinations, alternating his targets between the head and body.
Check out the Christian Mbilli vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko promo:
He has a crushing left hand, which has flattened Nadjib Mohammedi and Demond Nicholson. He blasts the body to either draw his opponent's guard low or coax a punch for him to counter. Either way, once his foe's chin is exposed, his left hand fires away like a heating-seeking missile.
Derevyanchenko, to his credit, is cut from the same cloth and has waged wars with some of boxing's most powerful fighters like Gennady Golovkin and Jaime Munguía, coming within an inch of victory. Unfortunately, he hasn't been the same since those fights.
Worse still, he's 9 years older and much smaller than Mbilli, with far more mileage. A younger Derevyanchenko would have been a more interesting matchup but in 2024? He's likely to lose.
The Prediction: Christian Mbilli via late TKO
