Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao believes in Stephen Loman’s chances of becoming a ONE world champion in the near future.
‘The Sniper’ Stephen Loman is quickly catching fire with impressive back-to-back wins within the last year to fight for the No.1 spot on the ladder to contention. The Filipino hard-hitter is scheduled to lock horns with former bantamweight world champion ‘The Flash’ Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4 on Friday, November 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Ahead of a high-stakes matchup with Fernandes, Loman’s head coach believes his pupil has a large repetoire of skills and experience worthy of winning a world championship title.
Speaking to ONE Championship, he said:

“Stephen is one of the longest-tenured world champions we have on this team. He already won multiple world titles in other organizations and his skills and talent are definitely ONE world champion material.”
Loman flew his way up to the Top 5 largely under the radar. Dominating his last two opponents, Yusup Saadulaev by TKO and outlasting Shoko Sato by decision, he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting fighters to watch on the roster.
As coach Sangiao mentioned before, the 30-year-old Filipino had already set himself apart from the competition before his promotional debut at ONE Championship as the inaugural and former Brave bantamweight world champion.
Fighting for his homeland of the Philippines, Loman wants to etch his name among the all-time Filipino greats, and Sangiao knows he’s got what it takes to do it.

Stephen Loman is excited for the opportunity to face bantamweight legend Bibiano Fernandes
Stephen Loman’s first real test comes in the form of Brazilian bantamweight legend Bibiano Fernandes. It will be his most challenging test but Loman feels he’s up to the task especially when he’s on a two-fight hot streak under the promotion.
Hoping to showcase a new plethora of techniques and skills on centre stage against a dangerous opponent like Fernandes, he’s grateful to ONE Championship for making this possible.
He told ONE:
“I’m so happy for this opportunity. Now the people will get to see the results of all the hard work and training that I’ve done. I’m truly excited for this bout. Bibiano’s one of the top contenders still in the division, so a win here and I could be next in line for the title.”
