Jorge Masvidal has accused his former opponent and rival Colby Covington of trying to copy Conor McGregor.

Colby Covington has built his persona as a true MMA heel over the years. However, that wasn't always the case with how 'Chaos' presented himself. The former interim welterweight champion was just about to be cut from the UFC back in 2017 when he decided to switch up his persona and became the notorious trash talker he is today.

Speaking about this during a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Jorge Masvidal suggested that Colby Cwasington was just trying to impersonate Conor McGregor's persona:

"I feel that he could've just been beating people, put more time into the craft rather than Twitter and trying to copy other heels and it would've been fine. This guy just, 'Oh what is Conor doing today, let me do that on the cheaper, sh**tier way,' you know? Be fu*king you bro, you know, just fu*king go out there and beat dudes up and say what you got to say."

Jorge Masvidal vows to beat Colby Covington before ending his UFC career

'Gamebred' and Colby Covington have had quite the history. The two used to be training partners back in the day at the American Top Team. However, things started to turn sour between the two as their friendship seemingly fell through.

While there have been numerous stories about how their friendship ended, Jorge Masvidal has claimed a number of times that Colby Covington did not pay his coach at ATT and this is what started their beef initially.

The bad blood between the two grew with time and they ended up fighting each other last year at UFC 272. 'Chaos' walked away with a unanimous decision victory that night and while it was expected that the two would make amends following their bout, that wasn't the case and the animosity between Covington and Masvidal grew.

Speaking about his rivalry with Colby Covington during the same episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Jorge Masvidal expressed his desire to fight 'Chaos' again. He said:

"What happened happened [loss at UFC 272]...So until we fight again, nobody will get to see that better version of me. But I promise you, Joe, before I close this chapter in my life in MMA, I will have competed against this guy. I'm gonna fu****g take his soul, bro."
