Colby Covington recently weighed in on the alleged rift between Dustin Poirier and Arman Tsarukyan. Covington, who's known for his outspoken views, has often criticized Poirier's public persona as a "nice guy." The former UFC interim welterweight champion has suggested that the lightweight contender's behavior, in reality, might not align with his public image.

He pointed out how Tsarukyan, who he described as a "good kid," has begun trash-talking Poirier, calling him an "egomaniac". Speaking in an interview with Submission Radio, Covington said:

"Look at Arman now starting to talk sh*t about him [Poirier]. What's going on there with Arman and Dustin? I don't think Dustin's this nice guy that he portrays. Everybody tries to act like he's such a nice guy. [Then] why is [this] super sweet guy, who I used to train with... Arman good kid, good little kid, but look at him. He's starting to trash Dustin's name. He knows how Dustin's an egomaniac, the guy just loves to have his ego stroked and he thinks he's the biggest star in every room he walks in even though he's a little b*tch and quitter."

Covington went on to offer his predicition for the upcoming rematch between Islam Makhachev and Tsarukyan at UFC 311 and said:

"I think he can [get it done]. I think he's he's an athlete, look how flexible he is. Look how he got out of that choke with Charles that was impressive. He dug deep for that and you know he's got a better coach. I believe in Arman, he's an athlete, he's got big power in his hands and if he believes in his hands I think he can knock out Makhachev."

Chael Sonnen sheds light on Colby Covington's walkout idea with Hulk Hogan

Colby Covington’s last octagon outing in the final UFC event of 2024 didn’t go as planned. The American suffered a TKO (doctor stoppage) loss to Joaquin Buckley.

However, his walkout at the Amalie Arena was unforgettable. Covington entered flanked by Chael Sonnen and WWE legend Hulk Hogan. While Sonnen’s involvement was expected, Hogan’s presence was a surprise. Speaking about the walkout in a recent episode of ESPN MMA's Good Guy / Bad Guy, Sonnen said:

"It was a cool thing, it was Hulk Hogan. Very first thing Colby says to him is, ‘When the camera hits, Hulk, I wanted you with the American flag…I come out behind you’. And Hulk cut him off and said, ‘Colby, too far. I am a guest in your house. You go first, I’m at your back… I won’t have it any other way.’ And that was his attitude right from the beginning and he was more than welcome in that locker room.”
