Colby Covington has leaned towards Alex Pereira while expressing his thoughts on 'Poatan's' potential fight with Jon Jones. Covington claimed the Brazilian's deadly left hooks and leg kicks might stun Jones even if the reigning heavyweight champion tried a takedown.
Jones has repeatedly teased a super fight with Pereira while dismissing interim champion Tom Aspinall for a title unification bout. 'Poatan' has also stated his desire to become a three-division champion, prompting everyone in the MMA community, including Covington, to share their opinions on the potential fight.
Being a longtime critic of Jones, Covington backed Pereira to prevail in their potential clash. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, 'Chaos' expressed his admiration for the reigning light heavyweight champion, citing that he poses a serious threat to Jones.

''Oh for sure he [Pereira] could definitely catch him [Jones]. I mean no doubt about it Jon's going to shoot for those legs, he's not want to get cracked by by Alex Pereira so that that left hook and those kicks are are lethal, so I definitely think he can knock out Jon with with a straight, with a nice little left hook.''

As for Jones, he took on former champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 for his first heavyweight title defense and dropped Miocic to the ground with a vicious spinning back kick in the third round to win via knockout.
During the UFC 309 post-fight press conference, Jones said he'd meet with UFC executives to discuss his future. He further stated that only a large payout would encourage him to confront Aspinall. But according to recent developments, the 37-year-old is poised to face Aspinall later this year.
When Colby Covington blasted Jon Jones following his win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309
Colby Covington and Jon Jones have been at odds for a long time, as evidenced by Covington's harsh remarks about Jones' title win against Stipe Miocic last year at UFC 309.
During the UFC Tampa media day, before his clash against Joaquin Buckley, Covington chastised Jones, citing his history with women during their time at Central Iowa Community College:
''Jon [Jones] has some fruity tendencies. I think the media needs to look into some of the fruity things that he does. It’s very strange...He’s been with some of the fattest, 300-pound slobs. It’s disgusting. Dude, Jon Jones is an absolute f**king disgrace to this earth. He’s a f**king joke... He’s a f**king coward, he’s a cheat, and he’s a woman beater.''
