Colby Covington recently shared his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev as a competitor and highlighted a path to victory for his opponents. 'Borz' is unbeaten in his MMA career and most recently earned a dominant win over Robert Whittaker.
'Chaos' and 'Borz' had been linked to a bout in the past and haven't shied away from putting each other on blast in interviews and social media. Their bout never came to fruition as Chimaev fought Kevin Holland before permanently moving up to middleweight.
Chimaev has looked unbeatable at times, however, there were moments in his bouts against Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman in which he had to showcase his resilience. During his latest appearance on Submission Radio, Covington mentioned that 'Borz' has done well utilizing his grappling and wrestling in the opening rounds, but is beatable once the fight gets into the later rounds:
"[Burns] really exposed [Chimaev's] cardio, he doesn't have good cardio. If you can stuff those takedowns that first, second round and get him in deep waters, he's not that good of a fighter. So, if he's able to get you down in that first takedown... yeah, then he's dangerous because then he can implement his will on you. But if you could stuff those first couple takedowns, he becomes human and he becomes a very beatable guy." [33:24]

Colby Covington discloses that he wanted to fight Khamzat Chimaev
In addition to highlighting a path to victory against Khamzat Chimaev, Colby Covington disclosed that he actually wanted to fight him when they were both competing at 170 pounds.
During the aforementioned appearance, Covington mentioned that Chimaev infamously missing weight for his bout against Nate Diaz, resulting in his opponent changing to Kevin Holland, was a deal breaker and that he doesn't fear 'Borz':
"I've wanted that fight [against Chimaev] for a long time. He ran from the fight, he couldn't make weight. He was just unprofessional...The guy was freaking retiring to the common cold. I'm not gonna be afraid of someone who's retiring to the common cold, so I don't see anything serious about him. I know I can stop his takedowns and then it becomes a striking fight and I don't know if his cardio can hang for five rounds." [33:01]
