Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, could not help but smile after the frequency of his club's signings of strikers was compared to the number of retirement announcements made by former boxing champion Tyson Fury.
On Jan. 13, Fury announced that he was retiring from competitive boxing after suffering consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Recently, a Sky Sports journalist posed a question to Arteta regarding the comparison:
"You're asked about briging in an out and out striker more often than Tyson Fury announces he's going to retire from boxing. But, can I ask you again?"
Arteta, who couldn't help but smile after the question, responded:

"My answer doesn't change. My answer remains the same. We're actively looking in the market to improve the squad. and that's been since day one. We will be naive not to do that, because it's an opportunity always to evolve the team, to improve the squad, and especially with the circumstances that we have. So yes, we are looking and we're trying, and let's see what we are able to do."

Eddie Hearn doubts if Tyson Fury's retirement is permanent
Tyson Fury's recent announcement marks his second declaration of retirement from boxing. The 36-year-old first announced his retirement after his victory over Dillian Whyte in April 2022 but returned to competition a few months later.
After his consecutive defeats against Oleksandr Usyk, there is speculation that the time might be right to schedule a much-anticipated fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Joshua's manager and boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, shared his perspective on Fury's retirement during an interview with IFL TV. Hearn, who learned of Fury's retirement during the interview, suggested that the move could be a strategy to negotiate better pay for a potential bout against Joshua.
Hearn stated:
"I saw that coming. I think if you ever want to come back and get the max, you've got to retire first, haven't you? Someone's going to have to bring you out of retirement. So listen, if that's the last we see of Tyson Fury, good luck to him. I doubt it, personally, but whatever he chooses to do, much respect to him."
