Irish women's strawweight contender Shauna Bannon shared her reaction to Mackenzie Dern having her daughter by her side at UFC Vegas 101. Dern, who was coming off three losses in her last five fights was looking to make a statement against fellow Brazilian contender Amanda Ribas. Their fight was a rematch from 2019, where Ribas secured a unanimous decision win.
Both fighters showcased elite striking and grappling skills during the bout, but Dern worked her way towards a well-executed armbar and submitted Ribas in the third round. During the arm raise, the 31-year-old had her daughter, Moa by her side. Reacting to this post on Instagram, fellow strawweight Bannon, who is backed by UFC superstar Conor McGregor, reacted to the cute moment. She said:

When Mackenzie Dern openly remarked on the financial realities of her divorce
Mackenzie Dern's divorce from Wesley Santos in 2022 has affected the Brazilian fighter's performance in the octagon for a while. Ahead of her UFC 295 clash with Jessica Andrade, Dern spoke on her failed marriage during the media day.
Due to the divorce, Dern faced financial burden and paid her entire fight purse from the Andrade fight as alimony. When asked about the divorce and its impact, the Brazilian native said:
"No. I realize we always have problems. Just the pressure. The last time I went through the divorce. The divorce was final but you don't realize how much aftermath there is to it. Literally, this whole fight is still paying my ex. You're like, 'Man, it's crazy. You have to get punched in the face and you work so hard and you do all this and you have to pay that much for something."
