Conor McGregor's UFC octagon return is perhaps the most anticipated event of the year. The Irishman is expected to return to action against Michael Chandler, his rival coach on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31. Again, everything hinges on McGregor clearing the current USADA testing protocol.
'The Notorious' has been out of action for a long time due to a leg injury he sustained in his third bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Despite Conor McGregor being out of the USADA testing pool recovering from injuries, the regulations as they currently stand require him to remain there for at least another six months before returning to competition.
McGregor, on the other hand, dropped a major bombshell in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that implied favoritism, according to the MMA community. McGregor revealed that he simply needs to pass two tests instead of remaining in the testing pool for six months:
"I'm not rushing nothing. There's hurdles and what not, but we're in constant communication and there's an interview scheduled and a meeting happens and then it will be official. But the six-month thing, what they had said, was two clean tests and off I go, so I assume it won't be too long."

If what Conor McGregor says is accurate, it would set a huge precedent for discriminatory practices within a strictly enforced anti-doping system. Needless to say, fight fans were enraged and took to Twitter to react to McGregor's claims. One fan wrote:
"He's not ready to get off the cocaine. He needs to slowly taper off of it to avoid a major withdrawal. Can't test if you're still on the coke, Aaron."
Another fan insisted on a transparent drug testing process to eliminate any unfair partiality:
"Given the recent Krause gambling controversy, the USADA testing needs to be fully transparent so the fans don’t assume certain fighters are permitted to circumvent the testing rules that their opponents are and have been subject to. I’m not a gambler but that’s not fair."
Yet another fan wrote:
"He should have been in the pool to make sure that the only thing he was taking was for his leg. God knows what other stuff he was taking on top of that."

Conor McGregor aims for consistency with his return to the octagon
Conor McGregor has not competed since suffering a leg break against Dustin Poirier in the first round of their trilogy bout at UFC 264. Filming for season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is approaching completion, paving the way for McGregor's anxiously awaited return.
The Irishman is expected to lock horns with his rival coach Michael Chandler as soon as he is cleared to fight by USADA.
McGregor's focus is on returning to action, but once he does, he plans to maintain his usual consistency. Speaking in a recent interview with Robbie Fox, Conor McGregor stated:
“I hope for 100 fights. I hope for 100 more fights. I’m working for consistency. I’ve been having this on, off, on, off nonsense for too long, via fight politics, via injuries, via just life. It does happen. It’s God’s plan. It’s all God, so I accept and understand it. But I’m excited and hopeful that I can get a nice consecutive run of bouts."
