Conor McGregor recently posted a tweet saying that Leon Edwards' knockout win over Kamaru Usman should win the Comeback of the Year accolade without contention. Edwards fought Usman in a rematch at UFC 278 in one of the most memorable fights of the year.
'Rocky' was getting dominated by 'The Nigerian Nightmare' for four rounds before finding a spectacular head-kick knockout in the fifth round of their bout. The loss marked Kamaru Usman's first promotional defeat and the first knockout loss of his career.
Conor McGregor seemed highly impressed with Leon Edwards' win and took to Twitter to put a stop to the Comeback of the Year discussion:
"Stop the nonsense “comeback” of the year [discussion], this [Usman vs. Edwards 2] is EVERYTHING of the year! Bar none. The timing of commentary, the timing of the fight, the shot itself, the KO, the ramifications, [and] the post[fight] speech: 'Pound-for-pound, head-shot. Dead!' This lives on!"

The loss marked the end of Kamaru Usman's spectacular title run, where he defended his belt five times – twice against Colby Covington, twice against Jorge Masvidal and once against Gilbert Burns.
Leon Edwards, who is currently on a 12-fight unbeaten streak, was almost finished in a similar way to his win at UFC 278, in his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 263.
The Englishman was coasting to a victory, having dominated the Stockton native for five rounds. In the last minute, Nate Diaz landed a one-two combination that wobbled 'Rocky'. Somehow, Edwards survived the round to win a unanimous decision victory.

When Conor McGregor felt sorry for Kamaru Usman's daughter, post UFC 278 knockout
Kamaru Usman was on the receiving end of one of the worst kicks in his first KO loss against Leon Edwards in their rematch. The moment proved horrifying for Usman's daughter, who watched her father get brutally knocked out live in attendance.
Journalist Mike Bohn put out a tweet stating he saw Usman's daughter being carried out of the arena, crying profusely. Conor McGregor expressed his sadness with the following tweet:
"I feel this deep. I do not suggest bringing family whatsoever. Especially the children. This is different fighting. I’ve done both sides of this and feel going to the mission solo is best. You can see family again post battle. Will definitely be continuing this way going forward."
The kick that Leon Edwards threw at Kamaru Usman was one of the most spectacular comeback knockouts ever seen in the octagon. The moment felt like something out of a movie, where the underdog came back with a statement.
Before the fifth round, Edwards' corner gave him a reality check, urging him to go out there and knock Kamaru Usman out. What followed was one of the best moments in octagon history.
