Michael Bisping believes that Conor McGregor could earn a title shot if he earns a decisive win against Michael Chandler when he returns to the octagon.

Bisping uploaded a video to his YouTube channel and described a scenario in which McGregor could get his name in the mix for a title shot.

'The Count' explained that Chandler is the perfect opponent for the Irishman because of his current status in the lightweight division:

"Conor's got all the money in the world but he wants that [UFC title], so you gotta respect that about him. And coming back against Michael Chandler, if he gets the job done, well it wouldn't be crazy to think about a title fight next. It really wouldn't, Chandler is still one of the top dogs. If he beats him, if he connects, if he gets a knockout, my God, he's in a title fight next." (7:39 - 7:57)

'The Count' also brought up 'Mystic Mac's most recent performances in the octagon to explain why it's still possible for him to earn a title shot.

Bisping mentioned that despite the losses to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, the former two-division UFC champion has proved that he is still a dangerous fighter:

"He's still a very very good fighter. You don't get to the levels he got - right I don't care maybe a bit of a down slide recently - but you don't get there unless you had something special to start with. So the fight with Chandler makes all the sense in the world." (7:07 - 7:19)

The former UFC middleweight champion wouldn't be opposed to the idea of McGregor earning a title shot if he defeats the former Bellator lightweight champion.

Michael Chandler is optimistic that the UFC will book him to fight Conor McGregor when the Irishman returns.

While speaking with MMA Junkie, Chandler expressed his excitement about possibly fighting 'The Notorious' in July:

"The way that Conor McGregor starts fights, the way I start fights, it's a car crash in the middle of an octagon. Hopefully in the middle of T-Mobile Arena here in Vegas in July, so it's gonna be huge, it's gonna be awesome, and I believe it's gonna happen." (14:34 - 14:48)

Based on their star power, accomplishments, and the fact that are both coming off losses against Dustin Poirier, it would be logical for them to fight next.

'Iron' vs. 'The Notorious' could eventually become one of the most entertaining fights of 2023 and one that puts the winner right back into title contention at 155lbs.
