Conor McGregor is closing in on three and a half years of inactivity after breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021. While he appeared set to make his highly-anticipated return to the octagon against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June, the former double champ was forced to withdraw from the bout with a broken pinky toe.
It remains unclear when, or if, 'The Notorious' will compete in mixed martial arts again as he has been teasing a boxing match against Logan Paul. Despite the uncertainty of his future, McGregor took to Instagram on Sunday to share footage of himself training, captioning the post:
"#solodrills @carvalhoarchimedes"
His longtime coach at Straight Blast Gym Ireland, John Kavanagh, responded in the comments, quoting International Boxing Hall of Famer Muhammad Ali by stating:

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights"

While there have been questions about McGregor's future in combat sports, he and his camp have remained adamant that he will compete again. It is unclear who 'The Notorious' will face when he does return, however, he and Chandler have both shown interest in being rebooked against one another.
