Conor McGregor recently took to social media to share an update on his UFC return timeline. While the Irishman claimed that the promotion loved the idea of him competing on an end-of-the-year fight card, it appears fans weren't convinced.
Earlier this week, Dana White spoke to reporters during a press conference and dismissed the idea of McGregor stepping into the octagon this year. Soon after his comments were clipped and shared to social media, 'The Notorious' issued a lengthy protest on X and called to be booked for a fight in December.
In a recent X post, McGregor shared an update on the same and claimed the promotion wanted him to fight in December. He wrote:

Despite McGregor's statements regarding a fight date, fans weren't convinced he was telling the truth and flooded the post's comments section to express their opinions.
One fan bluntly asked 'Mystic Mac' why he was fibbing about his UFC return date:
"Why are you lying?"
Another fan urged McGregor to call it a career and wrote:
"Just retire already. You're cooked old man."
One user wrote:
"Stop gaslighting everyone."

Dana White reacts to Conor McGregor calling for a fight in December
Dana White recently reacted to Conor McGregor asking for a fight in December and admitted that 'The Notorious' contacted him after his press conference statements.
McGregor was initially booked to make his MMA return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June but was forced to withdraw due to a toe injury. During a recent interview with Sportsnet, the UFC CEO addressed McGregor's comments and stated that he still believed the Irishman wouldn't fight this year. White said:
"You can imagine after I said that, Conor was blowing me up going, 'Oh, I'm definitely fighting this year.' When we get to a point where we're setting a fight and I believe a Conor McGregor fight is going to happen, I'll announce it. As of right now, I believe Conor will not fight this year... Conor's saying he wants to fight in December, we'll see how it plays out."
