Conor McGregor's UFC return is imminent, at least according to the Irishman himself, who recently spoke to Diario AS in a sitdown in Marbella, Spain. Moreover, 'The Notorious' sees a bare-knuckle boxing match in his future, particularly for a BKFC title.
McGregor lamented the toe injury that led to the postponement of his UFC 303 fight with Michael Chandler, who has been linked to the Irishman since the pair first filmed 'The Ultimate Fighter 31' in early 2023. However, he asserted that he would indeed return to the octagon at some point this year.
"I had my fight and it had to get postponed. But we're still, that's still going to happen this year, end of this year. The talk is the end of this year. So, I'd like to finish out the year with that, then I've got one left, so we'll see what happens after that. I'm going to see what's on the horizon. A bare-knuckle fighting world title sounds very, very exciting to me, so we'll see what happens."

The certainty with which the former UFC two-division speaks about his impending octagon return will leave fans with hope to see him in 2024. This is especially exciting news for Chandler, who has willingly sidelined himself for two years in pursuit of a McGregor matchup.
The pair were initially scheduled to clash at UFC 303, before a broken toe forced 'The Notorious' to withdraw from the card. During his recovery, it seems that McGregor has seriously contemplated a future fighting in BKFC, as this isn't the first time he has hinted at it.
Conor McGregor's BKFC future as a fighter is one the Irishman has teased before
During a recent appearance at the BKFC Spain Press Conference, Conor McGregor, who is now a part-owner of BKFC, briefly hinted at his plans to fight in the promotion.
"I have a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract. But for sure, we've got two lightweights up here on the dais, and I have my eyes on all of this. I'm not up here just as an owner. Player-manager, I'll title myself."

If McGregor's plans come to fruition, there is a ready-made matchup for him against BKFC star Mike Perry, with whom he had a past post-fight staredown, and who he recently lashed out at for losing to Jake Paul in the pair's boxing match.
