Conor McGregor has responded to a surprising fact regarding Max Holloway's recent loss. McGregor was astounded to learn that Holloway, like every other BMF champion before him, was knocked out by his next opponent after winning the ceremonial belt.
An X user by the handle @Elonov recently posted the tidbit on X, highlighting Holloway's defeat against Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 and former champions Justin Gaethje and Jorge Masvidal's devastating knockout losses against Holloway and Kamaru Usman at the historic UFC 300 and UFC 261, respectively. This news surprised McGregor, who responded by writing:
''Wild.''

Topuria and Holloway headlined UFC 308 in a featherweight title fight on Oct. 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The Spaniard kept up a fast tempo in the opening round and secured a takedown. Topuria's quick combinations and low kicks gave him the advantage, even though Holloway got up and countered with strong jabs and kicks.
The second round was considerably more intense. Holloway was put to the test multiple times by Topuria's measured blows and powerful low kicks, but his tenacity held up well as he retaliated with smooth combinations and spinning kicks.
However, in the third round, Topuria's constant pressure paid off. After dropping Holloway to the canvas with a stunning left hook, the 27-year-old launched a flurry of blows that compelled referee Marc Goddard to intervene and call the fight off. Notably, the 33-year-old 'Blessed' suffered his first knockout loss inside the cage at the hands of Topuria.
As for McGregor, he hasn't competed since suffering a leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. According to UFC CEO Dana White, the former two-division champion is expected to make his highly anticipated octagon return early next year.
