Conor McGregor's two-year hiatus from the UFC octagon is expected to end in 2023 with a whole host of possible opponents for the former two-division champion.

Tony Ferguson is one such fighter who could potentially face off against McGregor on his return. Ferguson's last fight was at welterweight against Nate Diaz at UFC 279, and with reports suggesting McGregor will return to welterweight himself, the fight could be a possibility.

Bantamweight contender Sean O'Malley weighed in on a possible matchup between the two on his podcast, The BrOMalley Show. O'Malley questioned whether the fight would work out in McGregor's favor:

"I've been hearing Conor vs Tony Ferguson and it's just... I don't know if that's good. I don't think that's a good [idea], it doesn't do much for Conor if he wins, I don't know. I don't think it's an easy fight, for sure. It's a dangerous fight for Conor because he's on a five-fight [losing streak] so Conor losing to Tony ruins a lot of things."

'Sugar' then delved into McGregor's recent form, mentioning that his strengths were still visible despite his two straight losses against Dustin Poirier:

"I don't think it's an automatic win [for McGregor]. Tony does get hit a lot, Conor does look sharp. Even his last couple fights he's lost, his boxing looks sharp. He's dangerous for the first five minutes. He's dangerous more longer but for those first five [minutes]- are tough."

Liam Neeson blasts UFC and fellow Irishman Conor McGregor

Irish actor and Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson recently spoke about the UFC and his compatriot Conor McGregor in an episode of Don't Read The Comments by Men's Health.

Neeson responded to a fan's question regarding the UFC and also expressed his displeasure over McGregor's reputation and the way it reflects on Ireland:

"UFC, I can't stand. That, to me, is like a bar fight. And I know all the practitioners say, 'No, you're wrong. The months of training we do.' Why don't you just grab a beer bottle and hit the other guy over there? That's the next stage from UFC. I hate it. That little leprechaun, Conor McGregor. Oh, please, he gives Ireland a bad name."
