Jason Herzog was in the spotlight due to his refereeing duties at UFC Vegas 95 on Aug. 10. Herzog officiated multiple fights on the card and has been receiving criticism for some of his decisions at the event.
One of the fights was the co-main event between Chepe Mariscal and Damon Jackson. The bout took place at catchweight (149.5 pounds) as Mariscal had missed weight by 3.5 pounds.
At one point in the contest, Jackson took several blows to his head, without offering much in response. This led many to believe that the fight should have been stopped then and there. However, the referee did not intervene and the bout eventually went the 15-minute distance.
In the end, Mariscal was declared the winner by unanimous decision. The three judges scored the bout 30-25, 30-25 and 30-26 in favor of 'Machine Gun'.

Several MMA fans were unhappy with Herzog's decisions in the fights and took to social media to share their thoughts on them.
One person slammed the referee for not stopping the co-main event.
"How is it always that Jason Herzog is the referee allowing fighters to take 50+ significant heavy strikes to the head and not step in to call the fight? Chepe had to land well over 50 HEAVY shots in that round without Jackson protecting himself and he didn't call that a TKO?!"
Another individual accused Herzog of not prioritizing the health of the fighters.
"Jason Herzog cool to let fighters die tonight."
One person went on to hurl personal insults at the referee for his actions at UFC Vegas 95.
"Herzog hates finishes, feel bad for his wife."
The referee clapped back at the person with an NSFW response.
"Yours seems pretty satisfied..."
