Cory Sandhagen recently expressed confidence in his chances against Merab Dvalishvili after seeing his performance at UFC 311. Although his rankings wouldn't warrant an immediate title shot, he is eager to earn an opportunity to dethrone the Georgian.
'The Machine' earned his first successful title defense following a unanimous decision win over Umar Nurmagomedov. Dvalishvili's cardio was on full display as he didn't look fatigued at all despite going the distance and maintaining an aggressive pace throughout the fight.
In a video recently uploaded to his YouTube channel, 'Sandman' shared his thoughts on the reigning bantamweight champion's fighting style and what is required to defeat him. Sandhagen mentioned that he believes he is the best matchup for Dvalishvili and noted that he would have success against him because of his unorthodox style:
"Styles make fights... I think that if you're going to be a guy that fights against Merab, you have to have really, really good footwork and be able to defend the takedowns in a energy efficient way... Say whatever you want about my style, what you have to say about it is that I probably have the best footwork in the division... I hold space, keep space, close it, open it better than anyone else in the division in my opinion." [1:58]

Cory Sandhagen explains how yelling helps Merab Dvalishvili in his fights
In addition to exuding his confidence in his chances should he fight Merab Dvalishvili, Cory Sandhagen explained how yelling has helped the Georgian in his fights.
During the aforementioned video, Sandhagen mentioned that Dvalishvili constantly fires himself up through yelling and believes it has a positive effect on his cardio, which was on display when he fought Umar Nurmagomedov:
"Merab, I think because of the nature of just who he is, the yelling that he does throughout the day I think is what does it for him... I think that that has something to do with it. Merab is always yelling. He's always yelling at someone, he's always yelling fans, he's always doing something that is working those lungs of his. So, I think that that's what it is that gives Merab this amazing conditioning." [1:11]
