Craig Jones recently opened up about the talks that resulted in his epic BJJ contest against Gabi Garcia coming to fruition. He explained the series of events that led to the 'Battle-of-the-Sexes' contest even being discussed and the specific details regarding weight and rules.
The 32-year-old is known for his elite grappling ability, while the 6'4 Brazilian is a multiple-time BJJ and submission wrestling world champion. The grapplers have had an ongoing feud with one another, so it appears as though they could finally settle the score on the mats in a unique contest.
During his appearance on today's episode of The MMA Hour, the Australian revealed that he will be competing against the former Rizin competitor at his own invitational event. Jones mentioned that he would be doing double duty as a promoter and competitor before both complimenting and taking a jibe at Garcia. He said:

"I'm actually competing [at the Craig Jones Invitational] as well...I dip my fingers in many things, obviously I'm the promoter and I'll compete for the same event and I'll be competing against the giant woman, Gabi Garcia. 6'4", 240 plus-pounds...She'll be [an] ADCC Hall of Famer...But that's who I'll compete against...[It is] signed, done. The feud didn't begin on social media like many of the others in combat sports but instead stemmed from an interaction at a grappling event. During the aforementioned appearance, the Australian mentioned that he clapped back and responded when the former Rizin competitor issued a challenge. He said:
"We were at a FloGrappling event...And one of the other girls on the event called her [Garcia] out. Gabie went full WWE mode, was like, 'I'll take anyone on. Anyone that calls me out, I'll take them on'. And I was like, 'I'll take that bet'. You know what I mean? So that's what sort of instigated it. That's where this whole two-and-a-half years of foreplay has really led to."
