Curtis Blaydes recently weighed in on Alex Pereira possibly moving up to heavyweight in the future and outlined how he would approach a hypothetical bout. The 33-year-old made it clear that he has no intention to allow the Brazilian to get comfortable with his standup and would immediately utilize his skillset.

The reigning light heavyweight champion has surged in popularity, especially after stepping in on short notice to save two massive UFC pay-per-view events. After 'Poatan's latest TKO win over Jiri Prochazka, there were many in the MMA community including Joe Rogan that clamored for him to move up to heavyweight. If Pereira does, he could attempt to achieve triple-champ status, which has never been done before in the promotion.

During his pre-fight media availability ahead of UFC 304 this Saturday, 'Razor' was asked about the possibility of 'Poatan' competing at heavyweight. Blaydes mentioned that he believes it wouldn't be a wise decision for Pereira to move up and outlined what would transpire if they fought in the octagon. He said:

"Bad idea...I'll give you my premeditated plan. I'm gonna shoot. Immediately. Why would I give him any chance to knock me out on the feet when I know I can take him down at will?...Yes [I would welcome Pereira to heavyweight]...I would f*** up Alex."

Alex Pereira expresses interest in only fighting UFC heavyweight champion

Alex Pereira's knockout power has been on full display when competing at 185 pounds and recently 205 pounds, which has resulted in many fans wondering whether he would still have that power at heavyweight.

After the light heavyweight champion's most recent win over Jiri Prochazka, many fans speculated on whether he could challenge the winner of Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes for the interim heavyweight championship. However, that doesn't appear to be his preference as he recently stated that he would only move up if he was challenging for the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship. He said:

"If it's Jon Jones, if it's Tom Aspinall, it doesn't matter. I have to get straight to the point and straight to the belt...Many people try to promote themselves, wanting to shrink me saying they're going to knock me out...submit me...hold me back...I am evolving. People didn't understand that. So each fight becomes harder for those people. whoever it is, it doesn't matter to me."
