Jon Jones has seemingly jested about the ongoing speculation that he's evading potential fights against top-tier opposition. Subsequently, the combat sports community weighed in with their responses to Jones' joke.

Jones, who's the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, was scheduled to defend the title against former divisional kingpin Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 (Nov. 2023). Unfortunately, 'Bones' suffered a pectoral injury and couldn't compete at the event.

Instead, the UFC booked Tom Aspinall to fight Sergei Pavlovich for the interim UFC heavyweight title at UFC 295. Aspinall knocked Pavlovich out to become the interim champion.

Presently, Jones is expected to defend his UFC heavyweight title against Miocic sometime this year. Meanwhile, Aspinall is scheduled to defend his interim belt in a rematch against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 (July 27, 2024). The consensus is that the Jones-Miocic winner could then fight the Aspinall-Blaydes winner in a title unification showdown.

In the meantime, former UFC middleweight champion and reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has asserted that he'd like to move to heavyweight and become the first three-division UFC champion. Certain sections of the MMA dominion have accused Jones of ducking fights against the aforementioned opponents.

The MMA legend now appears to have humorously played into that narrative. Jones put forth a tweet suggesting that he's bought a new Tesla Cybertruck. Adding a duck emoji to the end of his statement, he jokingly indicated that the truck would help him escape from his competition:

"A little something to help me run from the competition"

Fight fans reacted to Jones' Cybertruck post, with one jibing at his reported hit-and-run incident that involved a pregnant woman. Some opined that he's one of the greatest fighters ever and that his biggest competition is himself.

Multiple fans congratulated him on getting the truck and urged him to fight soon. Others deemed the truck a terrible choice. Alternatively, some X users reiterated that he's ducking his foes. A netizen tweeted:

"Cyber-duck"

Retired MMA fighter Ian Heinisch, who previously fought in the UFC middleweight division, similarly tweeted:

"Duck in the Truck!"

One fan dared Jon Jones to fight Alex Pereira instead of Stipe Miocic, whereas another brought up Tom Aspinall and insinuated that even the Cybertruck can't stop Aspinall. Moreover, a commenter lightheartedly labeled Jon 'Bones' Jones as the following:

"Cyber Bones Jones"
