How did the Dakota Ditcheva vs. Taila Santos fight play out?
Dakota Ditcheva played according to her strengths right from the beginning of the fight. She tried to turn the bout into a slugfest to make the most of her formidable striking skills.
Santos tried to diffuse Ditcheva's striking by taking the fight to the ground from the initial minutes of the first round. Instead, it was the UK native who scored the first takedown on Santos. But Ditcheva didn't want to capitalize and got back to her feet.
Santos eventually got her down to the canvas in the first round, but to little use. Ditcheva swiftly climbed back to her feet and continued landing strikes at regular intervals till the end of the first round.
Both fighters looked more calculative in the second round. Santos and Ditcheva both landed some good strikes in the initial minutes. However, Santos pushed Ditcheva to the cage while attempting another takedown in the latter half.
Ditcheva successfully defended Santos' takedown attempt. This time, she trailed the unsuccessful takedown attempt with an elbow that rocked her. The following body shots from Ditcheva proved to be enough to finish Santos for the first time in her 26-fight pro-MMA career.
