Former UFC fighter Gray Maynard believes that Dana White only cares about himself, a claim he made whilst answering fans' questions on a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA).

Maynard is a veteran of the UFC, making his debut for the organization at The Ultimate Fighter Finale 5 in 2007. The 43-year-old is a former title contender, having challenged Frankie Edgar for the lightweight title twice, drawing and losing to 'The Answer' in 2011.

'The Bully' last fought in 2018 at UFC 229, losing to Nik Lentz via TKO in the second round. Maynard called time on his career following the defeat after suffering a torrid 2-6 run across his last eight fights.

The former fighter held an AMA on Reddit, during which he answered fans' questions. One user asked the 43-year-old for his honest thoughts on Dana White, with Maynard labeling the UFC president as selfish:

"I think he only cares about himself and what's going to get him what he wants. but, that's how a lot of billionaires are. that's why they are billionaires. you don't get that by helping too many people."

Gray Maynard accuses Dana White of "lies" in regards to fighter pay

The Reddit AMA isn't the only time Gray Maynard has called out Dana White. The former UFC title challenger once responded to the UFC president after he was interviewed by GQ.

Earlier this year, Dana White sat down with GQ Magazine and answered fans' questions. During the Actually Me segment, the 53-year-old gave his thoughts on the UFC and its regularly criticized fighter pay situation.

According to White, the UFC's pay scheme is better than boxing and sees fighters getting paid "what they're supposed to."

"Fighters always wanna make more money. Boxing has been absolutely destroyed because of money and all the things that go on. It's never gonna happen while I'm here. Believe me, these guys get paid what they're supposed to get paid. They eat what they kill. They get a percentage of the pay-per-view buys, and money is spread out amongst fighters."

Maynard, who has experienced the highs and lows of being a UFC fighter, responded to Dana White's interview. According to 'The Bully', White often changes his response to fighter pay questions based on the publication:

"Needs to tell different stories to different audiences. GQ is obviously a newer less educated fight market (easier to lie to). But, don’t put those lies back into the educated fight market, I’ll look like a scumbag and have to turn it on u and call u a scumbag… pimpin ain’t easy"
