Dana White antagonizes fans with bold Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou take: "Barely made it through Ciryl Gane"

Dana White recently made a bold prediction about how a fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou would play out. According to White, Ngannou would suffer the same fate as Ciryl Gane.

Jones wanted to challenge himself, which is why he decided to move up to the heavyweight division. Before UFC 285, 'Bones' repeatedly stated that he would have rather fought Ngannou than Gane. However, the bout never happened as the former UFC heavyweight champion left the promotion over failed contract negotiations.

In a recent appearance on Club Shay Shay podcast, White spoke to Shannon Sharpe and discussed Ngannou's departure from the UFC. According to him, the promotion made every effort to keep Ngannou on the roster. He said:

''We did everything we in our power to try and make that Jon Jones fight [with Francis Ngannou]. And it is what it is.”

When asked if Jones was afraid to face Nagnnou, the UFC CEO replied:

''He [Jones] goes out for three years, comes back and beats Ciryl Gane like that, easily. In my opinion, he does the same thing to Francis. One hundred percent. He does the same thing to Francis. Francis didn’t want to fight Jon Jones. There's nothing for him to prove now. He already moved up to heavyweight and walked through. Francis Ngannou barely made it through Ciryl Gane.''

When Dana White dismissed the possibility of Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou

Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou are two of the most sought-after heavyweights in MMA. While it was previously simple to arrange a bout between these two fighters, the situation has since changed.

During the UFC 295 post-fight news conference, when a reporter questioned Dana White about accepting a cross-promotion to help the heavyweight titans fight, the UFC CEO responded angrily, saying:

''No, I'm not interested in that. We tried to make that fight, they didn't want to do it, and it's done... I'm not interested. We've got one, two, and three [top-selling pay-per-views in the MSG], they [The PFL] can't sell a f*****g gate... It's a stupid question. Why should I do that?
