"I had heard a rumor that Jon Jones wanted $30 million to fight Tom Aspinall, and I did hear that rumor. I did hear that the UFC said yes, but it is not true. Joe Rogan discusses use of plant-based psychoactives to treat mental illness

Joe Rogan has long been an advocate for alternative medical products and recently offered his take on alkaloid, Ibogaine, a plant-based substance that is used to treat mental illness and addiction.

During episode #2251 of JRE, Rogan spoke to former US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and former chairman of the Kentucky Opioid Commission W. Bryan Hubbard. Much of the focus of their conversation was about alternative ways to treat mental illness, which soon led to discussion about Ibogaine.

Hubbard stated that Ibogaine is proven to help treat mental illness and opioid addiction but remains banned from being offered as a viable treatment. Rogan then weighed in, questioning why Ibogaine is banned if it could be effective:

"Ibogaine has the unique ability to restore the brain's dopamine and serotonin production to its pre-opioid exposure levels within 36 to 48 hours. Thereby fully resolving physiological opioid dependence with a single administration for 80% of individuals the first time. That number goes to 97% with a second supportive dose."
