UFC CEO White recently weighed in on Conor McGregor's highly anticipated return, which has been defined by a series of conflicting forces. The Irishman hasn't competed since breaking his leg in the trilogy fight against Dusting Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
With over three years having passed since McGregor’s last fight, a lot has been made about his drive to succeed in competition. Meanwhile, 'The Notorious' has expanded his business venture with the launch of the Forged Irish Stout. He also expanded his combat sports empire by becoming a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships (BKFC).
In light of this, fellow fighters, fans, and MMA analysts have speculated that McGregor's prosperity outside the octagon could potentially erode his drive to compete. Dana White recently revealed the timeline of McGregor's return in an interview with New York Post Sports. While he offered a tentative timeframe for his return, White refused to comment on McGregor's "hunger" to compete:
"I was the one saying I don't think he's [McGregor] is going to fight this year... Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025. He's had so much time off... As far as the hunger, he's a very wealthy guy [and] we'll find out when he comes back."

Dana White includes Conor McGregor in his UFC Mount Rushmore
Conor McGregor has been an influential force in elevating the UFC's status as a worldwide sports powerhouse. The Irishman occupies several spots on the highest-selling pay-per-view list, besides topping the list for his UFC 229 fight against arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
UFC CEO Dana White recently revealed his choices for the Mount Rushmore of UFC legends during an appearance on ESPN MMA. He said:
"You gotta go with Jon Jones. You have to go with Ronda Rousey. Women would not be fighting, if it wasn't for her. You would have to put GSP in there and absolutely, positively Conor McGregor. He elevated and changed the game globally."
