In his recent press conference, UFC CEO Dana White piqued fans' interest by hinting that a big announcement is on the way.

The UFC once again had a successful year by consistently delivering the fights that fans wanted to see, such as Ilia Topuria versus Max Holloway for the featherweight title. @ChampRDS shared the clip on X where White, at the UFC Tampa post-event press conference, teased a big announcement:

“I’ve got something in the works right now, it’ll drive you f**kers crazy, all of you guys running around. I got something in the works that you will never f***ing see coming, for 2025, that literally started coming together last night.”

The promotion has already announced major matchups for its first pay-per-view event of 2025, UFC 311. In the main event, Islam Makhachev will defend his lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan. Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Umar Nurmagomedov will attempt to dethrone Merab Dvalishvili to secure the bantamweight title.

UFC 311 will take place at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on Jan.18 next year.

Dana White reveals how the co-main event of UFC 311 was booked

Merab Dvalishvili, in his most recent fight, secured a victory against Sean O'Malley to become the bantamweight king. Since then, Umar Nurmagomedov has started calling out ‘The Machine’ for a title fight. However, the Georgian fighter showed more interest in a rematch with O'Malley.

But now that Nurmagomedov is booked for the title fight against Dvalishvili, Dana White revealed the story behind how the co-main event for UFC 311 was booked:

''Just finalized last night, the co-main event will now be a bantamweight title fight between the champion Merab Dvalishvili and undefeated No. 1 contender Umar Nurmagomedov.
''Merab came into the office late last night, told us that he is tired of listening to Umar disrespect him and wanted to make this fight happen as soon as possible. We called Umar, he was sleeping in Dagestan. He said, 'Hell yes, anywhere and anytime.'''
