When Dana White spoke about his long-standing feud with Oscar De La Hoya
Dana White has shed light on his years-long feud with former boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya. The two prominent figures in combat sports have been engaged in a bitter rivalry for several years, with no signs of reconciliation in sight.
White attributed the ongoing feud to a combination of factors, including De La Hoya's criticism of his promotion of the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather boxing match in 2017. The former boxing world champion had publicly expressed his disapproval of the fight, accusing White of exploiting the sport.
In an interview with former NFL star Shannon Sharpe, White revealed the depth of the animosity between himself and De La Hoya. He explained that despite numerous opportunities for reconciliation, the two have been unable to bury the hatchet.
"Oscar De La Hoya is a f***ing two-faced, lying f***ing nut job. Me and Oscar are never going to be cool. Never ever... Look at anybody who's ever dealt with Oscar De La Hoya... I don't know if that guy has literally any-f***ing-body who's his real friend... I go to do Mayweather vs. McGregor, and he starts sh***ing on the fight, yet saying, 'I would fight McGregor though.'"
