UFC CEO Dana White was impressed by the exceptional talent on display at UFC Vegas 101. The event featured an exciting middleweight showdown between Roman Kopylov and Chris Curtis, with Kopylov securing a TKO victory in the final second of the third round.

The fight featured relentless exchanges, with both fighters showcasing their durability and skill. Kopylov was slightly more effective in the first round, landing combinations, while Curtis started strong in the second, opening up a cut on Kopylov.

However, Kopylov rallied in the latter half of the round, hurting Curtis several times. The third round saw both men continue to trade heavy blows, but Kopylov landed a high kick that sent Curtis to the canvas with only one second left, prompting the referee to stop the fight. The fight also earned the first Fight of the Night honors of 2025.

Before the win against Curtis, Kopylov secured a split decision win against Cesar Almeida at UFC 302 in June 2024. Before that, he suffered a submission loss to Anthony Hernandez in February.

Curtis, meanwhile, has struggled recently, securing just one win in the last five contests. He lost to Brendan Allen via split decision in April 2024.

The American holds a 5-4 (1 NC) record in the UFC. His last win inside the octagon was a split-decision victory over Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 297. With the win over Curtis, Kopylov improved his overall record to 14-3 while Curtis' record stands at 31-12 (1 NC).
