While his 2022 campaign may have ended in a loss, Danial Williams is reflecting back on his year fondly.
Through the last 12 months, ‘Mini T’ has been solely focused on competing in MMA and rising through the strawweight division rankings.
After producing three consecutive wins before losing to Jeremy Miado at ONE on Prime Video 3, Williams now finds himself as the No.5-ranked contender in the division.
Whilst the loss may have stunted his progress, Danial Williams is still feeling extremely positive about it and is ready to continue moving forward by competing against other highly-ranked opponents.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mini T’ spoke about working his way to the top of the division to earn himself a world title shot:
“That would be a perfect scenario, but another thing is getting the fights to set that up, to stay in the top five, and compete against the best martial artists in the world. Win, lose, or draw, even the last fight, make it the best thing to ever happen to you. It’s only upwards, never think you’re going down from here. Just continued growth.”
While he has had a good year competing in MMA, Williams still has one eye on returning to his striking background to once again compete in Muay Thai or kickboxing under the ONE Championship banner.
Watch: Danial Williams connects with flying tomahawk elbow on Rodtang’s forehead
Australia's Danial Williams went to war against one of the top fighters in Muay Thai when he met 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon in their 2021 battle. In one of the most entertaining Muay Thai fights in recent years, both men put it all on the line in their ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship fight.
‘Mini T’ Danial Williams produced one of the highlights of the bout when he landed a flying tomahawk elbow against ‘The Iron Man’. ONE Championship posted the video on their Instagram:
"TOMAHAWK 🪓 Will Danial Williams EDGE OUT Jeremy Miado on October 21 at ONE on Prime video 3?"
While Williams may have lost the fight, he came out of it with a lot of respect for his performance against Rodtang. After he turned his focus more towards competing in MMA, the Australian-born athlete has spoken about potentially facing Rodtang again in a different ruleset.
In an interview with Tim Wheaton of MMA Sucka, 'Mini T' commented on his Rodtang fight:
“I would love to fight Rodtang in MMA. Five minute rounds. That’ll be sick… I did come off a short camp when I fought him, I was in the weight division above mine, and I think with a bit of a training camp in MMA I’ll back myself. And I think that’ll be an absolute barnburner.”
