Danial Williams has proven himself to be one of the most exciting fighters in the smaller weight class. Competing in various martial arts disciplines, you can always guarantee a good fight when ‘Mini T’ steps inside the circle.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Williams spoke about drawing attention to the strawweight division, and how competitors like Jarred Brooks and Gustavo Balart are good for the exposure.
Strawweight champion Jarred Brooks has never been afraid to say what’s on his mind. He could meet a like-minded individual down the line in the very confident Gustavo Balart, who is on a three-fight win streak.
Williams spoke about how their personalities can impact the division in a positive way:

“That’s probably why I want that fight to go down, man. It will be entertaining, it will be good. Just the entertainment and I think that will be a funny little exchange of words and get more eyes on the show, I suppose.”
He added:
“It keeps the strawweight division alive. We’re the little dudes, we don’t get as much traction as the bigger guys. It’s good to have opponents like that in our division. A little bit mouthy, a little bit confident. It’s cool.”
Danial Williams continues to push forward despite Jeremy Miado defeat
Though his year may have ended on a loss, Danial Williams can take a lot of positives out of 2022.
Over the past 12 months, ‘Mini T’ focused on climbing the strawweight ranks in MMA to get himself into position for a title shot. Whilst that didn’t quite happen after he lost to Jeremy Miado at ONE on Prime Video 3, Williams did pick up three consecutive wins earlier on in the year.
Whilst he could easily sit and be disappointed that his great year ended in a tough loss, Danial Williams is looking at the positive side of his fight with Miado. It was another opportunity for him to test himself against the best guys in the division.
In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mini T’ spoke about working his way to the top of the division to earn himself a world title shot:
“That would be a perfect scenario, but another thing is getting the fights to set that up, to stay in the top five, and compete against the best martial artists in the world. Win, lose, or draw, even the last fight, make it the best thing to ever happen to you. It’s only upwards, never think you’re going down from here. Just continued growth.”
While he has had a good year competing in MMA, Danial Williams still has one eye on returning to his striking background to once again compete in Muay Thai or kickboxing under the ONE Championship banner.
